Super Bowl Wings from the Kitchen of Michael Goodell
Doctored Wings
I came up with this recipe after finding the local chicken wing offerings to be a little disappointing. So the first thing you need to do is buy a bunch of precooked chicken wings from your local deli or supermarket. What you do with them next will turn them from meh to mmm.
Ingredients:
1 pound (or so) of chicken wings
Soy sauce
Hot sauce (I prefer Melinda’s XXXX)
Granulated garlic
Adobo powder
Cayenne, Harissa or Sharma powder (or all three!)
One large zip lock bag.
Preparation:
Pour enough Soy sauce into zip lock bag to ensure all wings will be covered. Add hot sauce and various powders to taste. Close the bag and thoroughly mix sauce and spices. Place wings in the bag and vigorously shake until all wings are well coated. Set the bag aside for half an hour or so. Then preheat oven to 300, place wings on oven tray, either foil or use a rack. Heat them for 20 minutes or so, just long enough to get them hot. They’re already cooked. Serve them with Ranch or Blue Cheese Dressing, or eat them alone. Regardless of the amount of heat you bring (the more the better!), they should be pleasant infused with flavor. The key is using enough soy sauce to coat them.
These wings are sure to be a hit at your Big Game gathering, especially if they are paired with Dry Riesling or Rosé Crest. Both of which are conveniently featured in a wine pack this month!
